DESIGN BRIEF

La Coma-HiVE is an innovative showcase of luxe home design, set in the heart of Huesca, Spain. Conceived for a private client, this project embodies ARTES London’s commitment to sustainable architecture and eco-friendly innovation. Drawing inspiration from Antoni Gaudi, the design transforms traditional ornamentation into a contemporary language of colour and form. The building’s organic volumetrics and vibrant, colour-coded zones, blue for inspiration, red for vitality, yellow for wellness, create intuitive navigation and an emotionally uplifting spatial journey.
The client’s vision was clear: to create a landmark that harmonises with nature, elevates the local context, and sets a new benchmark for energy-efficient homes.

    ARCHITECTURE

La Coma-HiVE’s architecture is a celebration of innovation and environmental harmony. Its signature wave-shaped timber roof, supported by parametric trusses, appears to float above a glass enclosure, minimising structural impact while maximising natural light and ventilation. The building’s two-level programme cleverly leverages the site’s topography, with partially subterranean spaces enhancing thermal performance.

The central bleacher stair, an amphitheatre for collaboration anchors the layout and encourages creative exchange. Every aspect, from orientation to circulation, is designed to foster connection with the valley’s breathtaking landscape, positioning La Coma-HiVE as a new icon of sustainable design in Huesca.

      INTERIOR + FIT-OUT DESIGN

Inside, La Coma-HiVE is a masterclass in biophilic interiors and bespoke luxury. The Blue Zone’s flexible co-working spaces are awash with calming hues, while the Red Zone’s hostel offers 40 en-suite bedrooms, each with a view of living green walls for tranquility. The double-height Yellow Zone, dedicated to yoga and meditation, frames panoramic valley vistas and seamlessly blurs the line between indoors and out.

        SUSTAINABLE + ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN

Sustainability drives every decision at La Coma-HiVE. The architecture features timber frames, hempcrete walls, green roofs, and living walls, each selected for their low environmental impact and superior performance. Skylights and passive design strategies enhance energy efficiency, while green façades and roofs support biodiversity and natural cooling.
