DESIGN BRIEF

Fox Den stands in the tranquil woodlands of Juków, Kutno County, Poland. This project transforms a historic barn into a sophisticated metal artisan workshop on the ground floor and an eco-luxe, open-plan one-bedroom apartment above. With a landscape design that brings the outdoors in, Fox Den balances rustic charm and contemporary refinement for a truly bespoke countryside retreat.

    ARCHITECTURE

The design preserves the barn’s original elongated structure and window placements, while elevating the roofline to create a bright, spacious artist’s apartment. Striking timber trusses and multiple skylights fill the interiors with natural light. The exterior’s dark anthracite panels deliver a sleek, modern finish.
    • KEYPLAN FAÇADE - SIDE ELEVATION

The workshop features its own private entrance; the apartment is accessed via a south-facing terrace with a sunken fire pit—perfect for year-round enjoyment.

      INTERIOR + FIT-OUT DESIGN

Inside, the apartment exudes modern country elegance with open-plan living, exposed timber trusses, polished concrete floors, and natural finishes like timber and cork.

        SUSTAINABILITY + ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN

Fox Den is a model of sustainable retrofit. The design maximizes the original footprint, retaining foundations and key structures. The south terrace uses gabion panels, reducing the need for new concrete and encouraging natural greenery.
